The Latvian National Museum of Art
The Latvian National Museum of Art houses more than 52.000 pieces of art and is a crucial part of Latvian history. FOAMGLAS® insulation was chosen for the accessible terrace in front of the main entrance. Cellular glass insulation supports long service life of the structure and provides resistance to water ingress, contributing to controlled conditions within the building.
The Latvian National Museum of Art is the richest collection of national art in Latvia. It houses more than 52,000 works of art, reflecting the development of professional art in the Baltic area and in Latvia from the middle of the 18th century up until the present time.
The main building of the Museum was designed by the German architect Wilhelm Neumann and built in 1905. It was the first building in the Baltics to be built for the purpose of being a museum. The majestic façade is designed in the baroque and classicist styles. In 2013 the Latvian National Art Museum was closed to the public to allow the reconstruction works to begin.
Architect and engineering office chose FOAMGLAS® for the accessible terrace in front of the main entrance. The compact roof covers different rooms within the museum. By using FOAMGLAS®, the roof construction is designed to support long service life and provide resistance to water ingress, helping to maintain stable internal conditions within the building.
