The European Court of Justice

European Court of Justice Luxembourg

The European Court of Justice is an architectural marvel located on the Kirchberg Plateau in Luxembourg. FOAMGLAS® insulation was the obvious choice for the roof terrace. Due to its fire resistance and incompressibility, cellular glass guarantees a long lifespan for the roof of this incredible building.

Flat Roof (Roof terraces)

In 1972 the of the European Union Court of Justice moved from Villa Vauban in Luxembourg City Park to its new home in the renovated palace on the Kirchberg Plateau.

To accommodate the court, architect Dominique Perrault was commissioned to design a fourth extension to the palace. The project included extensive renovation works, a circular extension and two rectangular towers in the immediate vicinity of the Rue du Fort Niedergrünewald.

FOAMGLAS® insulation; with its characteristics of Euroclass A1 fire performance, and ability to support high compressive loads without movement or deflection was the ideal insulation material. The paving upon this roof terrace can support everything from pedestrian to vehicle loads. With the Foamglas insulation beneath, there is no risk of the paving cracking. This terrace construction really does give best value / m².
