Roof Build-up

The FOAMGLAS® Reusable Roof is a roof structure consisting of various loose-laid layers. There is no bonding between the layers (except for the area between the waterproofing)

  1. 1. Substrate: concrete roof or wooden / CLT roof deck
  2. 2. Vapor barrier / waterproofing: 3 mm vapor barrier placed on the roof slab
  3. 3. FOAMGLAS® T3+ blocks loose-laid
  4. 4. Non-combustible coating PC 74 A1
  1. 5. First layer of 3 mm bituminous waterproofing loose-laid on top of the coated FOAMGLAS® T3+ and the joints are thermally bonded
  2. 6. Second layer of 4 mm bituminous waterproofing fully adhered to the underlying bituminous layer
  3. 7. Ballast

This structure makes it possible to easily dismantle and reuse the insulation materials, contributing to the circularity of the roof system. Watch this timelapse video that shows how our roof can be easily assembled and disassembled, ready for a second life.

What Our Customers Say

Read what our customers say about the FOAMGLAS® Reusable Roof:
Testimonial from Joeri Beneens,
Contractor and Builder of 't Centrum at Kamp C, Westerlo, Belgium

The office building 't Centrum at Kamp C in Westerlo is the most circular office building in Belgium. All materials and components are demountable, allowing them to easily have a second life. During the construction of this building, we faced various challenges that forced us to think ‘out of the box’. Together with our suppliers, we tested and implemented certain applications for the first time. We intensively searched for ways to preserve the value of all materials and to use them in a detachable and demountable manner. Our goal was to almost provide a deposit on these materials in the future.

For the flat roof, we turned to FOAMGLAS. They excellently supported us in finding a solution where no layer of the roof construction is glued together. This allows all layers to be seen as separate components, without compromising the quality and waterproofing of the roof. This resulted in a perfect ‘FOAMGLAS® Reusable Roof’
