Long-term performance with FOAMGLAS® Compact Roof
For more than 60 years, the FOAMGLAS® Compact Roof has been used in flat roof applications. Its fully bonded construction is designed for long-term performance, helping the roof insulation remain in place over time.
Designed for long-term use
The FOAMGLAS® Compact Roof features a fully bonded build-up. FOAMGLAS® material is non-combustible and designed for long-term performance. Based on longevity and performance testing, FOAMGLAS® products are considered for a 100-year building service life* when used as intended.

Designed for dismantling and potential reuse
The FOAMGLAS® Reusable Roof features a loose-laid construction that makes the roof easier to dismantle. The insulation slabs can potentially be reused in another building project. FOAMGLAS® insulation is designed to support long-term use, while the loose-laid construction and clean installation method facilitate dismantling and potential reuse.
Straightforward installation
The loose-laid construction supports a straightforward installation and does not require adhesive for the insulation slabs.
The build-up of the FOAMGLAS® Reusable Roof
The FOAMGLAS® Reusable Roof consists of several loose-laid layers. From the vapour barrier upwards, the layers are not bonded together, with the exception of the waterproofing layers.
- 1. Substrate: concrete or timber / CLT
- 2. Vapour barrier, bonded or torch-applied
- 3. Levelling layer (optional)
- 4. FOAMGLAS® slabs, loose-laid
- 5. PC® 74 A1 coating
- 6. Two-layer bituminous waterproofing: first layer loose-laid, second layer bonded or torch-applied
- 7. Ballast
This build-up makes it easier to dismantle the insulation slabs and supports their potential reuse.

- Suitable for maintenance access
Reusable Terrace Roof
- With a compressive strength of up to 50 tonnes/m², the material is suitable for applications such as larger terraces and rooftop events.
Reusable Extensive Green Roof
- The combination of high compressive strength and impermeable material can help reduce the risk of condensation.
Reusable Solar Roof
- The non-combustible material (Euroclass A1) and high compressive strength support a stable installation.

“The office building ’t Centrum at Kamp C in Westerlo is the most circular office building in Belgium. All materials and components are demountable, allowing them to potentially have a second life.
During the construction of the building, we faced various challenges that required us to think outside the box. Together with our suppliers, we tested and implemented certain applications for the first time. We intensively explored ways to preserve the value of the materials and use them in a detachable and demountable manner. Our goal was to retain as much of their future value as possible.
For the flat roof, we worked with FOAMGLAS® insulation. We received excellent support in developing a solution in which the insulation layers are not bonded together. This allows the individual layers to remain separate components, while the dedicated waterproofing layers provide the roof’s waterproofing function.
The result was the FOAMGLAS® Reusable Roof.”
