Shoes or No Shoes museum is a paradise for shoe lovers. To protect the valuable collection inside, FOAMGLAS® WALL BOARDS were applied as façade insulation because of their weather resistance, insulation value, non-flammability and resistance to vermin. They also remain stable and retain all of their positive benefits.

Shoes Or No Shoes is the new paradise for all shoe lovers. This beautiful architectural masterpiece offers space for a wonderful collection of literature, art and information which focuses on shoes and feet.

The museum takes visitors through different ethnic cultures and people, ranging from man’s first footsteps to the present day. The huge collection of footwear is amazing; it includes unique examples from designers such as Silva Tore Ferragomo and Manolo Blahnik.

The renovation design team opted for a completely different style to that of the original museum. They chose to retain the massive and monumental building with its existing masonry cavity wall; and clad the exterior with Lead Sheet.

FOAMGLAS® was applied upon the walls as façade insulation, and with a lead sheet cladding fitted. A innovative structure was necessary to allow the particularly heavy lead façade panels to be mounted effectively.

FOAMGLAS® insulation is non-combustible, it remains dimensionally stable over a wide temperature range and it is waterproof. All these characteristics provided the design team many advantages during the lengthy refurbishment and construction works.
