Maritime Research Center Ostend
New maritime research centre in the port area of Ostend, where pioneering research will be done into the influence of waves, tides and wind on ships and other objects in the sea. This project includes a drag tank and a wave pool.
The nature of the research requires extremely well-conditioned room characteristics. Humidity and temperature of the research rooms are important because they influence the properties of the water in the basin. Temperature because they influence the properties of the water in the basin, humidity to guarantee the durability of the installations over a longer period. The roofs of the drag tank and wave pool, because of the humidity and the specific vapour management, are fully equipped with FOAMGLAS insulation, the ideal insulation for this project.
