A state-of-the-art aquatic center in Colombes
After two years of extensive work, the municipal swimming pool in Colombes has been completely renovated and is now open to the public, just in time for the 2024 Olympic Games. Originally designed by Henri Pottier and inaugurated in 1969, this iconic structure has regained its former glory and will host the artistic swimming events. The renovation project, led by ARCOS B and executed by BC SYLVA METAL, was a collaborative effort funded by the city, the Métropole, and the Département.
The upgraded facility now features a welcoming reception hall and modernized changing rooms for smoother access. It also includes an enlarged learner pool adapted for people with reduced mobility, a new paddling pool, slides, a heated Nordic pool, and a play area equipped with water jets and multi-slide.
The building is insulated with FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation, a specialized solution for damp environments, and the only insulation that is entirely impervious to moisture and airtight. The 4,000 m² of roofing has been renovated with FOAMGLAS® T3+, bonded to acoustic steel decking by CIBETANCE.
Less well known is that FOAMGLAS® WALL BOARD Alu T3+ insulates the new metal facades. Measuring 120 x 60 cm, these insulating boards are fixed to the inner metal trays, between metal Z-profiles to which they are glued, and which receive the outer cladding. This solution has been used for more than 20 years without any incidents, thanks to the physical properties of rigid foam glass. The 1,100 m² of facades of the structure have thus been insulated with ECOBAT 77.
