Owens Corning FOAMGLAS® 

In 2017, Owens Corning acquired Pittsburgh Corning whom manufacture a wide range of FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation products. With applications in both the construction and industrial sectors, FOAMGLAS® insulation products fit seamlessly into the existing Owens Corning’s activities around the world.

FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation is produced in purpose built factories around the world. Tessenderlo (Belgium), Klášterec (Czech Republic), Yantai (China) and Sedalia (USA).

More than 80 years of innovation

with FOAMGLAS® cellular glass

1937
Two industry-leading American glass companies - Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company and Corning Glass Works - founded the Pittsburgh Corning Corporation. They focus on the production and sale of glass products for the construction sector.

1942
Pittsburgh Corning launches a new glass product – FOAMGLAS® cellular glass; an insulation material with exceptional properties. FOAMGLAS® insulation is durable, lightweight, and provides excellent protection against heat and cold. It’s non-flammable, totally unaffected by water and water vapour, which are the biggest threats to insulation materials.

1952
FOAMGLAS® insulation is used within the restoration of the White House in Washington DC.

1957
FOAMGLAS® insulation is introduced to the European market.

1963
Foundation of Pittsburgh Corning Europe NV.

1964
Pittsburgh Corning build a production facility in Tessenderlo, Belgium, to help meet the growing worldwide demand for FOAMGLAS® insulation.

1969
The serve the growing demand in the United Kingdom Pittsburgh Corning United Kingdom Ltd open a UK Office; providing FOAMGLAS® Sales and, technical support to the UK Customers.

2008
A new European FOAMGLAS® production facility is set up in Klášterec, Czech Republic.
New technology optimizes the production process, reducing energy use and maximizing the use of waste glass during manufacture.

2014
A new FOAMGLAS® production facility opens in Yantai, China, the first production facility in Asia.

2017
Owens Corning, world leader in insulation, roofing and fiberglass-composite materials, acquires Pittsburg Corning.
