Boosting Capacity and Reducing the carbon footprint of our products

Owens Corning, a global leader in insulation, roofing, and doors, is pleased to announce a significant investment in its FOAMGLAS® insulation plant located in Klášterec, Czech Republic. This strategic initiative aims to increase production capacity by 50% and further reduce carbon intensity, reinforcing Owens Corning's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the building products markets.

FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation is renowned for its performance, longevity, and high quality of building insulation materials. As a key contributor to Owens Corning's building products portfolio, the material focuses on commercial and high-rise residential buildings, providing solutions that support construction agendas centered on longevity and durability.

The investment will boost production capacity by 50% to meet the growing demand for FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation products, particularly in the expanding flat roof markets in Europe and for its signature FOAMGLAS® T3+ cellular glass product.

The investment includes measures to enhance energy efficiency and increase the use of renewable energy in the company's operations, reducing the carbon footprint of its products. This aligns with the European Green Deal and addresses key decision criteria for customers.

Owens Corning FOAMGLAS® has consistently been a pioneer in the industry, staying ahead of the market by implementing innovative practices such as the first worldwide application of 100% electric glass melting in 1995, leading the way in environmental sustainability with recycled content, as well as providing Environmental Product Declarations for many of our products. Initiatives like the introduction of FOAMGLAS® T3+ technology in 2015, reducing single-use plastics in packaging in 2020, and using recycled products in its processes underscore its commitment to customers, markets, and employees.

"We are excited to announce this investment as part of our ongoing commitment to the building and construction markets," said Jan Coerts, general manager of Owens Corning FOAMGLAS® Europe. "By focusing on innovation and sustainability, we aim to provide our customers with the best solutions to meet their needs and support the growth of the industry."

The modified and expanded line at the Klášterec plant is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2026, reinforcing Owens Corning's focus on Europe as a core geography for building products.
