Fire protection constitutes one of the major challenges in the prevention of accidents, particularly for the protection of production facilities, commercial buildings, public locations and when human lives are at stake.
Automatic fire sprinkler tanks are installed for two main reasons; property protection or life safety. In both cases their efficiency in controlling and extinguishing fires and it should be accepted that all sprinkler systems will protect lives by restricting fire spread and protection escape routes.
Sprinkler systems are also part of property protection systems that ensure the building and contents are protected against fire. In both of these cases an essential part of the system is the water supply.
Since the extinguishing water temperature is below the adjacent room temperatures, you must thermally insulate the walls, ceiling and possibly the bottom of the sprinkler tank to protect the adjacent rooms from issues with condensation. The dew point must lay within the thermal insulation to prevent moisture penetration of the walls and ceilings.
Since insulating materials are very sensitive to moisture penetration - due to drastic deterioration of the thermal conductivity - you need an insulating material that is both impermeable to water and vapor, pressure-resistant and dimensionally stable.
FOAMGLAS® insulation is available in multiple high load bearing grades that can easily withstand the pressure of a tank filled with water. Being also a 100% closed cell insulation material, it will also prevent any condensation issues that could affect other parts of the building. The A1 fire class rating guarantees extended fire safety if a fire would break out in a building. FOAMGLAS® will not propagate the fire or give off any toxic fumes.
