The FOAMGLAS® TAPERED system with its integrated slope of 3% was chosen to create the required slope on all roofs of the building where the CLT wood load-bearing element was designed with zero slope. This is the first structure of this type (with a high CLT wood slab bearing element with zero slope) in France.

Specific objectives were set for the Vincent Auriol nursery school: biodiversity, low carbon footprint and good indoor air quality. The choice of materials for the construction, facades and interior finishes was made from a range of materials of biological and geo-sourced origin, or with very good performance in terms of the circular economy.

For the flat roofs of this structure with a wooden load-bearing element at zero slope, it was necessary to choose a thermal insulation creating the regulatory slope under the waterproofing (3%) and the garden finish. FOAMGLAS® TAPERED cellular glass was chosen because of its ability to achieve this slope and because of its qualities in terms of circular economy: the average recycled content for FOAMGLAS® products is 50%*.
