Webinar: Design Considerations for Insulating District Energy Systems
IDEA
Alec Cusick, Technical Services Engineer for Owens Corning, outlines the key considerations for District/Campus Energy insulation systems. Piping and equipment in these scenarios may be direct buried, in trenches, vaults or tunnels. The success of underground systems that carry steam, hot water and chilled water depends highly upon proper insulation system selection, design, and installation. Insulation systems must be capable of meeting the mechanical and moisture risks of these locations, along with providing long-term insulation efficiency. Alec also describes the key characteristics to look for in an insulating material, as well as the importance of proper accessories such as jacketings, coatings, and sealants.
