Perimeter insulation systems:
protection against moisture and water penetration
Thermal insulation is meant to enclose the whole building free of gaps. In addition to the roof and the walls, the building components in contact with the soil must also be thermally insulated. Thermal floor insulation can be applied over or under the floor slab. FOAMGLAS® may be used, in accordance with the structural engineer, as loadbearing thermal insulation, and even in areas with constant water pressure.
Thermal floor insulation in contact with the soil has to meet exceptional requirements. As a matter of fact, this part of the construction is hardly accessible again - or only at great expense - after completion of the building. Therefore, floor insulation must guarantee perfect functionality, a long service life and appropriate stability. FOAMGLAS® fulfils these criteria completely, and may even be used, in accordance with the structural engineer, as load-bearing thermal insulation under the foundation slab and in areas with constant water pressure (groundwater).
For economic reasons, cellar or basement levels are being used more and more frequently for residential or business purposes. Walls in contact with the soil must therefore be insulated with special care, in order to prevent moisture damage and subsequent renovation. FOAMGLAS® offers convincing systems, providing reliable and lasting protection for building components in contact with the subsoil.
